Chipping Norton Personal Training

Stone Barn Fitness Personal Training is a great way to achieve your fitness and weight loss goals through a tailored programme that works in harmony with your lifestyle. We believe firmly in an evidence based approach, so there are no fads, detoxes, wonder diets or short term fixes here.

How Personal Training Works

All sessions start with a confidential introductory session where we discuss your targets, assess your fitness levels and decide on the specific training approach for you.

Whether you are completely new to fitness or working towards a specific target, our trainers offer a highly experienced, confidential, and personalised service.

Adhering to an exercise programme is one of the biggest challenges when starting on your fitness journey. Our personal trainers integrate a wide range of exercises, equipment, and techniques to ensure your workout delivers both enjoyment and progression. Your trainer will guide you through your programme to push your limits to promote a stronger, healthier mind and body.

Diet and Nutrition

To compliment your fitness programme, we believe that it is essential that you review your lifestyle and nutrition to optimise your results.

Our evidence-based approach will educate you about the science of nutrition and how to avoid fads and pseudo-science. We will then construct a personalised plan which promotes long term balance and understanding.

While we recommend you commit to at least two sessions a week, we’re realistic about how day-to-day demands can impact your schedule. Therefore all personal training sessions can be combined with a gym membership or an exercise strategy outside of the gym.

All sessions must be pre-booked directly with your trainer and pre-paid for prior to attending the Gym.

Please note that any session cancellations require at least 24 hours’ notice or will be subject to charge.

  • A highly skilled and qualified personal trainer, Mark at Stonebarn Fitness operates a gym of the highest quality in Chipping Norton. He offers a bespoke personal training service, working with individuals to help them achieve their fitness goals.
  • I first went to Mark (recommended by a friend) about five months ago, when I could barely walk due to injury to my knees, caused by playing cricket over many years. Since then, I have been going to Mark, twice a week and my flexibility and walking has improved to such an extent that my orthopaedic consultant has advised me that I no longer require any knee surgery. Mark’s understanding of various muscle groups is second to none. He has strengthened the right muscles and consequently improved my stability to a level I could never have imagined with the added benefit of not being in pain! I am truly grateful to Mark and I couldn’t recommend him more highly.

  • As an unfit, fifty year old menopausal woman I decided to start personal training at Stone Barn Fitness around 10 months ago with a goal to feel fitter and stronger and generally less old! I have trained with Mark twice a week since, supplementing my PT with walking and self managed gym sessions and to be honest it has been brilliant.
  • My sessions with Mark are motivational and push me well beyond levels I would push myself and he consistently ensures I am achieving the maximum out of my sessions – I have found muscles in places I didn’t even know I had them. Mark is knowledgeable and encouraging and who knew I actually enjoy going to the gym!! I would highly recommend anyone considering PT to bite the bullet and reach out – you won’t regret it.

  • I joined Stone Barn Fitness just over a year ago, with intention to get stronger & improve fitness. I ‘treated’ myself to an initial 5 sessions of PT with Beth, PT once a week and training on my own 2/3 times a week. Worth noting after my first session I could barely move! But it did get better. Beth is brilliant, encouraging when you feel you cannot possibly lift any more, fun to work out with whilst pushing me out of my comfort zone (squat rack not as scary as I thought!). Every PT session is different so I never get bored but Beth also listens & will adjust an exercise if required.
  • Stone Barn Fitness is accessible & friendly, definitely worth visiting.

  • I’ve trained with Mark at the impressive Stone Barn Gym for over a year now and I have found him to be very knowledgeable, consistent and just the right level of challenge whilst staying focused on my goals.
  • He encouraged me to do my first triathlon and I’ve now completed 4 this year with Mark’s help. He really is a genius.

  • I’ve found Stone Barn a really top notch, well equipped facility. I’ve been using Mark as a Personal Trainer for the past 15 months. I’m someone who doesn’t normally get over enthusiastic at all about going to the gym… in fact I used to struggle, but Mark has kept me coming back for more.
  • He’s kept me motivated through my workout programme and importantly building up my general stamina and muscle strength. He’s one of the good guys.

  • After many years of riding accidents and injuries I am left with constant niggles, stiffness and pain. Since I have started training with Mark at Stone Barn Fitness I feel so much stronger and more confident.
  • My pain has been hugely reduced and my increased core strength has helped me ride with more evenness and balance. I thoroughly enjoy my sessions.

  • Having never set foot in a gym before, I reluctantly booked an initial fitness assessment with Mark in August 2020 and was immediately encouraged by his positivity, patience, expertise and good humour.
  • I signed up for twice weekly personal training sessions which we have been doing ever since; and the whole process has been far more enjoyable and productive than I could have ever anticipated. He is firm and pushes you a little harder each week – but, for me, one of the key reasons I have stuck with it is because Mark is hugely knowledgeable and I know I am in safe hands. He knows how to handle my lack of confidence and as a result of his guidance, my fitness and strength levels have improved more than I could have expected. Sessions with Mark are now an integral part of my life and something I look forward to; the gym itself is also very well equipped and spacious and has a really happy and welcoming atmosphere. I would encourage anyone to go and visit Mark and his team, they really know what they are doing.

  • Stone Barn Fitness is an independent gym run with an independent spirit. Mark and his hand-picked team of trainers, have not jumped on the bandwagon of “wellness fads” and offer sound, valuable and evidence-based training and nutrition advice.
  • I was an anxious gym-goer when I arrived at Stonebarn 5 years ago and Mark has taught me to love and appreciate training. As a result, it has very naturally become an easy and loved part of my daily life. I cannot recommend Mark highly enough as a personal trainer. As an amateur adult gymnast he has supported my performance goals with training plans that assist strengthening my areas of biomechanical weakness. Mark was also a key part of me overcoming an obsession with “clean” eating and fear of a long list of foods. He slowly helped me unpick pseudo-science from nutrition principles and I am in the best shape of my life currently, eating all foods and with a confidence that I know how to feed and train myself.
